Analyzing Political Communication Patterns Through Social Media (Case Study of Presidential Staff Twitter Account)

In today's technological developments, social media use is a necessity. Every element of society uses social media in a variety of interests, including in terms of governance. One of the social media that is Twitter. One that is quite active using Twitter, even repeatedly reaping controversy, is the chief staff of the presidency, Jend. Purn. H. Moeldoko. The study wanted to assess the political communication pattern undertaken by the presidential staff chief. This research uses a qualitative method of descriptive using Nvivo 12 plus data processing software. The data collection came from the Twitter account of the presidential chief of Staff, Moeldoko, namely @Dr_Moeldoko. This study found that the communication done by Moeldoko through his Twitter is generally to the media or fellow government agencies. The contact he does is also one way and more in providing information About government programs. In this study, there was also a suspected ineffectiveness of Twitter management based on the decline in Moeldoko activity in his account. From the findings can be concluded that the communication pattern is made by general. Purn. Moeldoko, as chief of the presidential staff, is both vertical and nonparticipatory.
